Numerical Integration with Variable Limits in Python
Переглядів 22 тис.10 місяців тому
Today we go over how to numerically integrate a function f(x,y,z;a) using Scipy, where x, y and z are variables to be integrated over, and a is parameter. We do this for 2 cases: 1) when the limits of integration are constant 2) when the limits are functions of x, and y, themselves. Check the Flexispot Amazon store and get your setup! I have interesting story from my highschool. I had a good teacher of physics but he was quite burnt out. He had a lot of knowledge but wasn't motivated to get new when I asked him tricky questions. When I was in graduating year me and my classmates chose subjects we wanted to be tested from. However I was the only one that voted for physics and school couldn't afford to give me classes I needed. So I started to study by myself. It was pretty hard because when there were some easy concepts that I couldn't understand, I didn't have anyone to explain them. On the other hand it was big advantage because I could come up with something by myself and I learned how to think, be independent and with that it was easier to remember the topics

    Thank you so much for your videos! Some questions to this one: 1. If you say A^\mu = (..,...) you're actually saying that a component equals a vector. Is this just sloppy physicist style or is A^\mu really the name of the whole vector? 2. Why do you write the indices of the E up? 3. Taking down the indices of the partial derivatives (while regarding the sign), does it just "work" or is it mathematically correct? Because applying a dual object to a "normal" object isn't the same as applying a "normal" object to another "normal" object. ("normal" = not dual)

    • @AndrewDotsonvideos
      @AndrewDotsonvideos 5 днів тому

      Good questions! 1) If the index is free (ie not repeated and summed over), then it is usually interpreted as a vector equation. You can always evaluate the index for mu = (0,1,2 or 3) if you’re interested in a specific component. You just have to do it for both sides of the equation. 2) I have to watch the video again to see what you’re referring to, but it sounds like I’m referring to E as an ordinary vector with upstairs indices. I have a video on contra/co/-variant and ordinary vectors and on the metric tensor which goes into much farther detail on the answers to your questions I think. 3) applying the metric to raise and lower indices both works and is mathematically correct. This is not unique to the partial derivatives, it works with all tensors by construction. The metric acting on a contravariant vector defines a covariant vector. But the scalar product will always involve 1 contravariant and 1 covariant vector, indices summed.

    The way you started the video I thought it was gonna be like drink water, don't procrastinate kind of videos but this was actually tremendously useful. How can you say that everyone knows that already in the into? At least for me I have a terrible sense of timing. Most of the time I can't judge how many days I should study and by what quantity. I always forget to write down things and do the simple math just like you did which would apparently save me a lot down the road.

    I can think of so many times in life when I screwed up in school and many times it began by over committing myself and not making sure I had time to make sure I'm enjoying my life. I'm not saying we should blow off our work all the time to go out with friends but we do have to be mindful about making sure we are meeting our physical, emotional, and psychological needs. Those don't go away. They're as important as food and water. Remember, nature always wins so we must respect it.

    There is a more straightforward proof by rewriting the quantum state in terms of position(or momentum) coordinates by inner products formula. And then rewrite the quantum state in the inner product as momentum(or position) specification, and finally compare to the Fourier transform formula to get the result. The proof is much simpler.
